 | | | MY JOURNEY | Hey! | I’m Maria, the other half of the Mindstream writing team. | If AI news feels messy, overwhelming, and slightly unhinged… Well, that’s because it is. | But that’s why we’re here. We write Mindstream so you don’t have to doom-scroll through 47 tabs, 10 Discord leaks, and whatever Elon’s posting this week. | You get the headlines, the context, and the stuff that actually matters, in 5 minutes or less. | I have two degrees in International Affairs; AI wasn’t originally my subject, but I needed to learn it fast. That’s what drew me to Mindstream. | Picture me, scrolling LinkedIn when I got the message that would change my life: We want to interview you. | I started here as an all-round marketing gal, but quickly became Matt’s second in command, writing the newsletter every day alongside him. And by alongside, I mean halfway across the world. From my home country of Lebanon. | Mindstream continued to grow and grow — and eventually, I learned HubSpot was acquiring us. As part of the deal, they offered to move me to the UK to be closer to the rest of the team! | But it wasn’t that simple. Things got kind of crazy in Lebanon. Bombs dropped. The airport closed. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever make it to the UK. | Eventually, normality returned, and I moved to the UK in February 2025! | | Maria at Google’s London office in 2025 to report on their new AI mode! |
| If you’d told me two years ago that I’d be writing about AI, for 200,000+ people and moving to the UK to do it, I would’ve laughed in your face. | And yet… here we are. Somehow, I get to do the thing I’ve always loved: writing. | I didn’t plan a career in tech. I just learned how to take something messy and make it make sense, and that’s exactly what you’ll find here, every single day. | So, friends, welcome to the chaos. Let’s make sense of it together. | If you’re like I used to be, and need to get up-to-date on AI, this will help, I promise! | - Maria | |
