U.S. Department of Justice

Greetings,

The Legal Access Services for Reunified Families Program continues to seek volunteers to provide pro bono immigration legal services to Ms. L. Class members. See 8 C.F.R. §§ 292.1(a)(2), 1292.1(a)(2).

Ms. L Class members include parents, legal guardians, or children who were separated by the U.S. government at the U.S.-Mexico border between January 20, 2017, and January 20, 2021.  Confirmed Class members are eligible for immigration legal services under the Legal Access Services for Reunified Families (LASRF) Program.

Representation before the Department of Homeland Security and EOIR includes practice and preparation as defined by 8 C.F.R. § 1.2 and 8 C.F.R. § 1001.1(i), respectively.

If you are interested in volunteering, please provide the following information:

  1. Your full legal name;
  2. Your organization or law firm’s name, if applicable;
  3. Your office or home address;
  4. Your preferred phone number(s) to be contacted at by clients;
  5. The cities and states in which you are available to provide legal services;
  6. Whether you are willing to provide remote legal services;
  7. The languages in which you could provide legal services;
  8. If you are an attorney, list all jurisdictions in which you are licensed; or if you are an accredited representative, list all organizations through which you are accredited;
  9. And your EOIR eRegistry Identification Number, if you have one.

This information may be shared with the current contractor provider, Acacia Center for Justice, to help match you with a Class member to represent.  Mentorship is available, as needed, for volunteer legal representatives.

If you are interested in providing representation to members of this group, please reply to Ms.L.Volunteers@usdoj.gov.

Sincerely,

Legal Access Services for Reunified Families
