Hatchet Burger is back with their weekly pop-up for Memorial Day. The special this week is a Ramp Butter Burger and the Bacon Rodeo Burger. The menu also includes smashburgers, a wedge salad, and fries or tots.

Sketchbook Brewing hosts an all-ages open mic night featuring comedy, music, poetry, and storytelling. Sign-up begins at 6:00 PM and performances start at 6:30.

Volunteers help repair small appliances, electronics, clothing, jewelry, bikes, and other household items during this community event. Participants work alongside volunteers to fix items and learn basic repair techniques.

This social ride is open to female-identifying riders and covers 6–10 miles through Evanston.

The museum hosts a garden info swap focused on native plants, food, and relationships to land. The event includes free seedlings, journaling prompts, and seed trading among local gardeners.

Northlight Theatre’s HighLights writing community shares memoirs, poetry, essays, and fiction during an afternoon storytelling event. Light snacks and beverages will be available before readings begin at 2:00 PM.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jonathan Eig discusses Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and the themes explored in his biography King: A Life. The conversation examines the civil rights leader’s work and its relevance today.

Music cognition researcher Elizabeth Margulis discusses her new book Transported, which explores how music can trigger vivid memories, emotions, and imagined experiences. Margulis will be joined in conversation by Northwestern music professor Daniel Shanahan for a discussion on music, psychology, creativity, and the ways listening shapes how people think and feel.

Northwestern’s Wirtz Center presents In the Time of the Butterflies. The production tells the story of the Mirabal sisters, whose resistance to authoritarian rule in the Dominican Republic became a symbol of courage and political activism.
