Hello Market Friends,

It’s officially National Farmers Market Week, and we’re thrilled to celebrate with you!

Now in its 26th year, this USDA-recognized week (August 3–9, 2025) honors the power of farmers markets to strengthen local food systems, uplift small farms, and bring communities together. Whether you’re here to stock your kitchen, chat with your favorite vendor, or just enjoy the energy of the market, you’re part of something bigger.

Farmers markets aren’t just about food—they’re about connection. They connect farmers and makers directly with their neighbors. They support regional economies. They keep traditions alive. And every time you shop with us, you’re helping build a more resilient, more delicious future.

So come out this week, bring a friend, try something new, and let’s celebrate the farmers, food, and friendships that make our market special.

See you at the market—and thank you for being part of our community!

Thanks

Vendor Spotlight: Breadman Baking Company

A longtime favorite at Lincoln Square Farmers Market, Breadman Baking Company has been serving up freshly baked goods for an incredible 17 seasons.

Founded in 2008, Breadman was born when its founder—once a bread seller for another company—decided to take matters (and dough) into his own hands after the business shut down. The result? A beloved local bakery built from scratch

.

Breadman’s favorite part of the market? “The customers,” he says. “There are regulars I see every week, and I’m always meeting someone new.” His go-to loaf is the Onion Poppy Seed bread—perfect for toast or sandwiches.

Everything Breadman brings is made from scratch with zero artificial preservatives or additives.

And when he's not behind the booth, he’s browsing for cheese, mushrooms, and blueberries.

Stop by, say hello, and grab a loaf—you’ll taste the care in every bite.

The Recipe Box: Pickling the Summer Harvest

Summer produce is bursting with flavor—and pickling is a simple, satisfying way to preserve that freshness for weeks to come. Whether you’re craving something crunchy, tangy, spicy, or even a little sweet, there’s a pickle for that. Here are four delicious ways to extend the life of your favorite fruits and veggies:

🥒 Quick Dill Pickles

Classic and crisp, these garlic-packed cucumber spears are a go-to for sandwiches, burgers, or snacking straight from the jar.

🌼 Turmeric-Ginger Pickled Cauliflower

Bright in color and bold in flavor, this cauliflower gets a kick from turmeric and fresh ginger—perfect on a snack plate or tossed into salads.

🌿 Dilly Beans (Pickled Green Beans)

These crunchy green beans are packed with dill and garlic and add the perfect tangy bite to charcuterie boards or cocktails.

🫐 Pickled Blueberries

A sweet-and-savory surprise, pickled blueberries are excellent alongside cheese, spooned over roasted meats, or added to salads for a burst of flavor.

Pickling is an easy way to enjoy summer's best even after the season fades. Grab a few jars and start preserving your market haul today!
