Lincoln Square Farmers Market

The Lincoln Square Farmers Market is back this Thursday from 3-7pm at 2301 W. Leland Ave., with local farmers, makers and food vendors filling the market.

The Chopping Block is still on the schedule for this week’s cooking demonstration, sharing tips and techniques for making the most of seasonal ingredients. Come shop the market, catch the demo and pick up something delicious for dinner!

A quick update: Cookbook author Martin Sorge was scheduled to join us today to promote his new cookbook, Great Bakes, but unfortunately had to cancel. We hope to welcome him back to the market soon, and we’ll be sure to share details when he reschedules.

North Park Elementary School will dedicate a new public mural honoring Kitihawa, the Potawatomi woman who co-owned and operated the trading post that became the foundation of Chicago alongside her husband, Jean Baptiste Point du Sable. Believed to be the first public mural in Chicago dedicated to Kitihawa and her role in the city’s founding, the artwork was created by indigenous Chicago artists Noelle Garcia and Monica Rickert-Bolger with contributions from NPES students.

The community is invited to attend the mural dedication ceremony on Wednesday, September 9, from 7:30–8:15am at North Park Elementary School, 2015 W. Montrose Ave.
