Lincoln Square Streetscape Improvement Update


Exciting changes are coming to Lincoln and Leland Avenues. The Chicago Department of Transportation, in partnership with Alderman Matt Martin, have launched a streetscape improvement project that promises to make our neighborhood safer, more walkable, and better connected.


Building on the 2019 Lincoln Square Master Plan, this project will improve Leland Avenue from Western to Lincoln, as well as sections of Lincoln and Western Avenues.


Key upgrades include:

  • Protected Bike Lanes
  • Safer Pedestrian Crossings
  • A New Public Plaza Near the Western CTA Station
  • Enhanced Green Spaces & Streetscape Beautification


Construction is slated for completion by July 31, 2025.




Lincoln Avenue North Construction: Upcoming Work


Here’s a quick update on the Lincoln Streetscape project:


  • This week, the contractors installed light poles, pavers, and tree pits along the east side of Lincoln Avenue, from Foster to Catalpa. They’ve also started work on the Catalpa Plaza at the northeast corner of Lincoln and Catalpa.


  • Next week, work will begin on the west side of Lincoln Avenue, starting with the installation of sewer catch basins. Additionally, crews will begin working on the water service for the Catalpa Plaza.

The project is set to be completed in 2025. Stay tuned for further updates!
