Summer is in full swing, and the market is bursting with fresh, seasonal flavors! This week, we’re savoring the arrival of donut peaches, while grapes are expected to appear soon. Tables are overflowing with juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, fragrant herbs, sweet corn, ripe berries, melons, and more—bringing sunshine to every meal.

This Thursday, Musicians On Call (MOC) will be on-site at the Lincoln Square Farmers Market recruiting new volunteer musicians. If you're a musician with a passion for sharing your talent and making a positive impact, consider joining their mission.

MOC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the healing power of music to patients, families, and caregivers in healthcare environments. Through their Bedside Program, trained volunteer musicians perform live, in-room music for patients undergoing treatment or unable to leave their beds, creating moments of joy and comfort during challenging times.

Vendor Spotlight: Nuts Over Dates

Nuts Over Dates has been delighting the Lincoln Square Farmers Market community for the past year and a half.

What started in 2024 as a nostalgic return to childhood treats quickly grew into a mission to share healthy, delicious energy bites with the world.

Each bite is hand-rolled in small batches, packed with superfoods like hemp seeds, quinoa puffs, and Brazil nuts—proof that clean snacking can be both nourishing and indulgent.

The team’s favorite part of the market? The energy and the in-the-moment feedback from customers. Those little nods of approval after a first taste—what they call “NOD moments”—make every market day memorable. While their Dark Chocolate Orange with Hemp Seeds flavor is a standout favorite, every bite is crafted to deliver nutrients and flavor in equal measure.

When they’re not sharing their own treats, they love shopping for fresh bread from local bakeries, always leaving the market with something warm and crusty to enjoy at home.

The Recipe Box: Fruit in Sweet & Savory Dishes

Summer’s bounty offers a delightful opportunity to explore fruit in both sweet and savory dishes. From juicy berries to refreshing watermelon, these recipes showcase the versatility of fruit in various culinary creations.

Sweet: Summer Berry Galette

A galette is a rustic, free-form tart that captures the essence of summer fruits. This Summer Berry Galette features a medley of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries atop a buttery, flaky crust.
