Dear Friends, On Thursday, Alaa’s mother Laila will enter the 81st day of her hunger strike to #FreeAlaa. Having lost over 22kg, Laila’s body is now entering a dangerous new stage, only days before politicians are due to disappear for their Christmas break. This is a crucial moment: and so we're writing to ask you to join Laila for a Christmas vigil outside 10 Downing Street on Thursday evening from 5.30-7.30pm to urge Prime Minister Keir Starmer to do everything in his power to bring Alaa home for Christmas, before it's too late. Momentum is building across the political spectrum. We know there are multiple options available to Starmer to put pressure on Egypt. Alaa's release is within reach, but only if we keep the pressure up. So, please join us with Laila and her family on Thursday from 5.30-7pm at Downing Street, so she can feel our support, and we can let Keir Starmer and the world know we are depending on him to bring Alaa home safe for Christmas. We hope you can make it to Downing Street on Thursday, and we’ll do our best to continue to bring you updates in the coming crucial days. The #FreeAlaa campaign |
