Trump DOJ loses in Maine, Wisconsin as courts rebuff demand for voter rolls

  • Federal judges handed the Department of Justice (DOJ) a pair of losses in its nationwide quest for unfettered access to state voter registration rolls, ruling the federal government had no right to demand records from Maine and Wisconsin.

  • Today’s dismissals bring the DOJ’s record to 0-8 out of 31 lawsuits it brought against states and Washington, D.C.

In Maricopa County, election-denier official stirs chaos ahead of July primary

  • A lawyer from America First Legal is accusing election officials in Maricopa County, Arizona, of committing “serious felonies” for passing a resolution on drop box locations for an upcoming primary election.

  • The threat was sent on behalf of the county’s Recorder Justin Heap – a notorious election denier – and is just the latest in a long-simmering feud about election administration duties between county officials.

Lawmakers in South Carolina take next step to pass gerrymandered map as election looms

  • The state’s Senate Judiciary Committee advanced a new congressional gerrymander late Wednesday that would carve up the state’s only Democratic district, long held by Rep. Jim Clyburn (D). The new map will need just a simple majority to pass in the state Senate.

Tina Peters case: Colorado Democrats censure governor for commuting sentence of convicted election denier

  • Colorado Democrats voted to formally censure Gov. Jared Polis (D) over his decision to commute the sentence of Tina Peters, the former GOP election official convicted for her role in a voting system breach.
