In a reversal, ICE admits it may have documents on agents at polling places
- ICE told a court that it may have documents relevant to Democrats’ demand for the Trump administration’s possible plans to deploy agents at the polls this fall.
- Its disclosure is a significant reversal after telling a judge earlier this year it found “no responsive records” in response to the Democratic National Committee’s Freedom of Information Act requests for documents about the “potential employment of federal agents and troops to polling places, drop boxes, and election offices.”

Two more DOJ voter roll lawsuits tossed
- In a win for voters, the DOJ lost its 14th and 15th voter roll cases, with zero wins, when GOP-appointed federal judges dismissed the government’s lawsuits seeking access to Virginia and New Mexico’s full voter records.

With justices testifying, Democrats demand Supreme Court ethics reform
- Congressional Democrats used a pair of U.S. Supreme Court budget hearings to implore Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Elena Kagan to support judicial ethics reform and stand up to Trump.
- While the hearings were ostensibly about the Supreme Court seeking a $16.6 million budget increase to bolster security, that didn’t stop lawmakers from making the case for ethics reforms at the Court.

Win for Arkansas voters as judge blocks ballot initiative restrictions
- A federal judge struck down several Arkansas laws that made it harder for voters to pass ballot initiatives.
- Some of the measures that were invalidated: requirements that petition signers have photo ID, a requirement for warnings for all prospective signers about petition fraud, making petition signers read proposed ballot titles out loud and making paid canvassers disclose their address before collecting signatures.
