Hello pro-democracy readers! We got some good news yesterday when a court blocked President Donald Trump’s attack on mail voting. But Reporter Jim Saksa explores what’s expected to come next, and why the danger isn’t over yet. Meanwhile, the far-right is amping up their conspiratorial rhetoric about what will happen if Democrats win the midterms.

Also: Everyone was (understandably) very interested in this yesterday, so we’ve got more information on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents confronting a poll worker in New York.

Plus, we’ve rounded up this week’s good news at the bottom of the newsletter, don’t forget to check it out.

All that and more is on the docket today. I hope you enjoy your weekend!

A court blocked Trump’s attack on mail voting. But voting advocates aren’t celebrating yet

  • Despite the win, Trump’s legal opponents aren’t ready to take a victory lap, given this administration’s predilection for defying and dodging court decisions.

  • “There are these ongoing attempts to circumvent court orders or do things through the back door that courts have told them they can’t do through the front door,” one expert told Democracy Docket.

Meanwhile, one state official issued a clear warning against Trump’s mail ballot rule

  • In comments submitted to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs (D) said the proposed rule — which seeks to implement part of Trump’s anti-mail voting executive order — is unnecessary, unconstitutional and unworkable for states that already administer secure vote-by-mail elections.

Courts deliver sweeping wins against Trump’s anti-voting orders

Federal courts issued a series of major rulings blocking key pieces of Trump’s efforts to seize control of election administration before the midterms. Here’s the latest:
