  • A federal court denied Black voters’ request to keep Louisiana’s current congressional map with two majority-Black districts in place. The decision allows the state to advance a proposal with only one majority-Black district, which the state legislature is currently working on.

  • The Congressional Black Caucus announced it would not support the SCORE Act, a bill that would reshape college athletics revenue sharing and compensation for athletes. The caucus said it “cannot support legislation benefiting major athletic institutions that continue to remain silent while Black voting rights and Black political power are being systematically dismantled across the South.”

  • Meanwhile, the NAACP launched its “Out of Bounds” campaign, calling on Black athletes, fans and families to withhold athletic talent and financial support from public universities in states that have moved to erase majority-Black districts after the Callais ruling.
