Donald Trump is telling us his plan. This week, the Department of Justice announced that election monitors would be sent to six states — Arizona, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire and Virginia.
If you notice a pattern, you should. All of these states except New Hampshire are run by Democratic leadership. All of these states are crucial to Democratic victories in 2026 and 2028.
The presence of election monitors at polls in these states is, obviously, no coincidence. Trump has never been quiet about his plans to undermine free and fair elections. He has no plans to start now.
Election monitoring in and of itself is not unique or cause for concern. Monitors have been deployed by both Republican and Democratic presidents, and usually work in conjunction with local officials.
In normal times, they are flies on the wall. They take notes, they observe, they watch for instances where the law is being violated.
But these are not normal times, and Donald Trump is no normal president. These monitors are not there to help. They are there to cast doubt and spread lies.
The administration has been on a crusade against free and fair elections. They are suing states for voter rolls. Using the unreliable and inaccurate SAVE database for voter eligibility checks. Sending ICE agents to terrorize poll workers.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon made it clear that the poll monitors will be an extension of this disruption — and that should worry you. It worries me.
And it won’t just be the election monitors watching the polls...
