"It would make no sense for an individual to have 20, 30, 40, let alone 50, universal life policies on their own life."
- James Carson, a professor at the University of Georgia who researches the insurance market.
For context, Paul Atkins—President Trump's nominee to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)—and his wife hold an unusual number of life insurance policies: 54. |

Blink Cyber is down |
 |
Chubb has shut down Blink's last remaining product—personal cyber insurance.
Launched in 2021 as a millennial-focused brand, Blink offered cyber coverage starting at $5.28/month. It later introduced income protection under Blink Paycheck, which was discontinued in 2023. Plans to expand into renters, life, travel, and pet insurance never came to life.
We reached out to Chubb and received the following response:
"After thorough review and careful consideration, Chubb has made the decision to stop writing new personal cyber insurance sold through its Blink by Chubb endorsed brand across the US. Existing Blink Cyber policyholders will continue to be serviced, including online claims processing and self-service policy management. Chubb will remain a market-leading provider of personal and commercial cyber insurance protection, as well as risk mitigation services for individuals, families and businesses."
Bottom Line: This is the right move. Another smart move would've been to start with a different set of products—like this one. |

🇯🇵 Equity alliance |
Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI) will purchase up to 15% of W. R. Berkley's outstanding common stock through open market or third-party transactions. The Berkley family, which owns a significant stake, is not selling any shares, and the company itself isn't issuing new stock as part of the deal.
Once MSI acquires 4.9% of shares, it will vote in line with the Berkley family, with limited exceptions. If MSI reaches a 12.5% stake, the Berkley family will support appointing an MSI-nominated director to W. R. Berkley's board, pending standard approvals.
The deal is expected to close by March 2026, pending regulatory approvals. |
