Mosquitoes or Ticks Bugging You? NSMAD Can Help
|
If you’re seeing more mosquito activity, have large areas of standing water, or would like help finding mosquito breeding sources, you can request a free property inspection. NSMAD will inspect your property, treat mosquito breeding areas with the proper larval control product, and share tips to help reduce mosquitoes around your home. NSMAD encourages residents to contact them before hiring a private mosquito control company.
Remember: If it can hold water, it can breed mosquitoes. Regularly empty or drain items that collect stagnant water, such as buckets, toys, tires, planters, bird baths and outdoor containers.
|
Recent surveillance found both deer ticks and dog ticks in local natural areas. When spending time in wooded, brushy or grassy areas, use an EPA-registered insect repellent, wear long sleeves and pants, stay on maintained trails, and check yourself, children and pets for ticks after being outdoors.
If you find a tick and would like help identifying it, use the NSMAD Tick Identification Lab by emailing a photo to ticks@nsmad.org or texting a photo to 847-903-0220.
