Take a Few Minutes to Help Shape the Next Few Years!
|
The Village is developing a strategic plan to serve as a roadmap for Skokie’s future. We need your input to help plan for the years ahead!
How to Participate
|
-
Take the Village’s Strategic Planning Engagement Survey by October 11. Paper copies are available at Village Hall and Skokie Public Library, and will be distributed through community partners. The Village is also working to make the survey available in multiple languages.
-
Look for details in next week’s edition of The Scoop for information about an October 5 Community Visioning Session as well as focus groups.
|
Why It Matters
The Village’s strategic planning consultant, CP2, will organize and present public survey and input data to the Village Board later this fall. This information and other data will inform the Board’s discussion and development of a strategic plan to be presented for consideration later this year.
What’s a Strategic Plan?
A strategic plan outlines a community’s vision, goals and priorities and guides decision-making and resource allocation. It helps align Village services, infrastructure and policies with community needs and future growth.

Remaining work and traffic impacts: IDOT will continue to implement temporary lane closures on Oakton Street to complete street lighting and traffic signal upgrades, as well as punch list items.
Additional work will continue on the bridge structure this fall, primarily impacting traffic on the Edens Expressway. The project is expected to be complete by spring.

Decorative brick pavers between the sidewalk and curb will be replaced.
|
Dempster Street Corridor Brick Paver Replacement
|
Starting on Tuesday, September 2 and continuing through October, the Village will remove and replace aging brick pavers in the West Dempster Street commercial corridor, from Kilpatrick to Lockwood Avenues. View the project map (.JPG).
Traffic impacts: Daily lane closures will be implemented between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and will be limited to a maximum of two blocks at a time. Sidewalks will remain open throughout the work.
Project benefits: The new pavers will enhance the corridor by improving pedestrian experiences and safety, and will require reduced maintenance.
