New Chargers Power Up Village’s EV Fleet
|
As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, the Village recently installed 13 new Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging ports for municipal vehicles at Village Hall. The project was completed in partnership with ComEd through its Beneficial Electrification Make-Ready Rebate program.
π A greener fleet: The added EV chargers:
|
- Support the Village’s expanding fleet of EVs, increasing charging capacity by more than 50 percent.
- Pave the way for the Village to replace 10 aging gas-powered vehicles with EVs over the next year.
|
-
The 10 new EVs to be added to the Village’s motor pool are projected to reduce carbon emissions by 14 metric tons per year.
- The EVs will replace gas-powered vehicles that use a combined 2,300 gallons of fuel per year, saving the Village over $6,000 annually.
|
In addition to their environmental benefits, EVs typically require fewer resources and are less expensive to maintain.
β‘ Find a public charging station: The Village also offers four public EV charging stations. View the interactive map to find a public EV charging station near you.
