I was alllll about Airbnb in my 20’s. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve found myself defaulting back to the convenience and comfort of a good hotel.
But they just re-launched their ‘experiences’ feature and have a pretty cool campaign around it…
This one is from Airbnb (not a client).
It starts with the line: “Don’t just see Tokyo… 3 ways to experience it on Airbnb.”
The listicle format is tried and true. Even if I don’t have plans to go to Tokyo, I’m still at least a little interested to see what the 3 ways are.
The ad then introduces us to: a ramen tour with a guy who’s tried over 4,000 bowls, a matcha tea ceremony with one of the rarest blends in the world, and a hands-on lantern painting session.
But what I really love is the editing style. It’s got…
- Super fast cuts that keeps you watching
- A blend of iPhone-style clips and polished shots. I love this blend of high and low
- A collagey vibe that kind of mimics an old-school photo album
- Great sound design. You hear little pops and clicks when text appears, which adds a nice rhythm
This one is part of a much larger campaign, I saved 12 other one’s here.
