Meet the shoebill stork
What is a shoebill stork? This giant bird is a prehistoric wonder of the world! A mostly fish-eating species, this ambush predator is named after its shoe-like beak. They are naturally found in Africa and there are estimated about 8,000 shoebill storks on Earth. They sometimes grow as tall as five feet high, but are still flighted birds! They can clap their beaks, to making a sound often compared to a machine gun. Shoebill storks use bowing as a means of communication and can even be seen bowing with humans!
