We have no words to express our gratitude for this weekend. Thank you for sharing all of the instagram posts and videos, it has been wonderful to experience the celebration with you and all of your smiling facesIf you did not have a chance to turn in your Win A Trip to Sweden raffle ticket, you have until Friday, June 19 at 4PM. . You can either fill it out in person at the office, or we can fill it out for you on your behalf! 

Join community members, neighbors, and local leaders at 12PM on Thursday, June 18 at Catalpa and Ashland for the groundbreaking of . This transformative project will convert Catalpa Avenue into a pedestrian plaza designed for community gathering. The plaza is named in honor of Elise Malary, former Chicago Therapy Collective board member and founder of #HireTransNow. Naming this public space after Elise recognizes her lasting impact on the community and her work advocating for a Chicago where Black and Brown trans people can live, work, and thrive. The plaza will serve as both a tribute to her legacy and a continued investment in creating welcoming public spaces that bring people together.

At this groundbreaking, we honor Elise Malary’s legacy alongside with Alderperson  , Commissioner ; Chicago Department of Transportation, Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth;  , CEO , Dena Jo Pavlovic; Andersonville Chamber of Commerce Board Secretary and ENJOY General Manager, Founder and Executive Director , Fabiana Malary, sister of Elise Malary.

PRIDE MONTH EVENTS
PRIDE BLOCK PARTY
Nobody’s Darling opens its doors and spills out into the street to host their Pride Block Party celebrating diversity, equity, inclusivity, and community on June 27 at 1744 W Balmoral from 3-8PM. There will be Live DJ sets, amazing food vendors, clothing & art vendors, cocktails & community vibes, and interactive activities for kids & adults. The vibes spill over into Sunday for Nobody’s Darling Pride Viewing Party where there will be Happy Hour all day long! Doors open at 1PM.

LGBTQ+ SELF DEFENSE SEMINAR
In recognition of Pride Month, Bender Martial Arts and Fitness is hosting a free LGBTQ+ Self-Defense Seminar on Saturday, June 20 at 12PM. Participants will learn practical self-defense skills while getting an introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Whether you're completely new to martial arts or looking to build confidence and personal safety skills, this beginner-friendly workshop is open to all experience levels. The seminar takes place at the studio located at 5547 N Ravenswood, Lower Level. Buzz 102 upon arrival.

PRIDE MONTH AT ATMOSPHERE
Pride Month Sundays continue at Atmospherewith Mothers of the House Pride edition! Starting at 4PM on June 21. And yes, they are bringing all their hits. After dancing through the Pride Parade on Sunday, extend the celebration at Atmosphere’s Pride Parade afterparty on June 28.

QUEER WRITERS CLUB
The Queer Writers Club at Chicago Filmmakers is a monthly meeting for LGBTQ+ writers; open to both beginners and experienced authors, regardless of genre. This is a queer writer's safe space, a friendly club to hone your craft through creative writing exercises. This time includes focused practice in a group setting and a chance to meet other LGBTQ+ creatives. Whether you're jotting down poems in a journal or working on your fifth draft of a Netflix-produced screenplay, you're welcome to percolate fresh ideas, help form a new writing community, and share in the company of this generative space! The next one is June 27 from 3-4:30PM.

CELEBRATE PRIDE WITH THE NEO’S
Celebrate Pride Month with The Neo-Futurists' 30 Queer Plays in 60 Straight Minutes, a fast-paced, ever-changing collection of original short plays created by LGBTQIA+ artists. Performances take place June 19–21 at 5153 N Ashland. Please note that the June 19 performance is sold out online, but walk up tickets may be available. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime.

A MURDEROUSLY FUNNY CABARET
Chicago drag superstar, Ari Gato, is back with Ari Gato Attempts to Share the Spotlight: A Murderously Funny Cabaret. Join Ari as her "solo" cabaret falls apart once again as she's forced to share the spotlight. A night of amazing singing, stories, and laughter to close out your Pride Season that you won’t want to miss. Featuring the talents of Jon Jackson, Laura Vidal, Bosston and Alex Newkirk on the keys, you know you're in for an unforgettable show. And somebody will die! Come find out who on June 27 from 8-10PM at The Understudy Coffee & Books.

JUNETEENTH SPECIAL AT SMACKDAB
On Juneteenth, anyone who self-identifies as Black is welcome to come into  and receive a free meal on the house. No hoops. No proof. No explanation. Just come in, be fed. This particular Juneteenth meal offering is specifically for guests who self-identify as Black. If you are not Black and want to celebrate the day, Smack Dab invites all to come in, buy a meal, tip generously, support Black-owned businesses, learn the history, and find your own meaningful way to show up in solidarity. A portion of the day's sales will be donated to a Black-led Chicago organization, so every order helps us extend the care beyond Smack Dab’s own doors.

WFCW NEIGHBORHOOD SIDEWALK SALE
Treasure hunters, bargain seekers, and neighborhood explorers won't want to miss the annual WFCW Neighborhood Sidewalk Sale this Saturday from 10AM-4PM With 42 sellers participating throughout the neighborhood, shoppers can browse everything from furniture, household goods, books, toys, clothing, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind finds. It's a great opportunity to score a deal, give pre-loved items a new home, and spend the day getting to know neighbors along the way. CLEAR'S 5TH ANNIVERSARY SOIRÉE
Save the date: Sunday, August 16 from 2PM to 5PM. is having a birthday and everyone is invited to the celebration. Come toast to five years of rescues, rehabilitation, re-homing, and education at . for this 21+ event includes entry, refreshments, 2 drink tickets, entertainment from and a special birthday prize. 

CHICAGO DANZTHEATRE
Starting this Thursday, three clowns work together to find life when friendship is all they have. A very silly threeman workshop production, runs June 18-21 from 6-7PM. Then Celebrate dads everywhere by taking a trip with Dick and Dale and their trusty man-van in by Whisper Theatre performing at C June 27-28 at 3PM. This is a show for anyone who is dad, has dad, or wants dad. Best suited for ages 8+. This show is full of dad jokes hidden between dance parties, partner acrobatics. 

WORKSHOPS AT GETHSEMANE
On Saturday, June 27 from 11AM-12PM stop by for a free at . Participants will learn which plants grow well together, which combinations to avoid, and how companion planting can improve soil health and naturally reduce pests without the use of chemicals.No registration is required for this free event. Then on June 28 from 10-11:30AM, Gethsemane is teaming up with for an Early Summer Floral Centerpiece Arranging Workshop. Learn hands-on techniques for selecting complementary blooms, designing a balanced arrangement, and keeping your centerpiece fresh. Guests leave with a stunning creation and the skills to recreate the magic at home.  

AN ALMOST SUMMER
Rain is in the forecast for Wednesday which is perfect for a cozy night of poetry reading at Lazy & Entitled present reading with poetry from Julian Martinex, Bridget Gordon and Sara Matson on Wednesday, June 17 at 7PM. Doors open at 6:30PM. Espresso bar will be open and treats will be available for purchase.

SING-A-LONG
Looking for a fun Saturday morning activity for your little one (ages 0-5)? located at 1800 W Balmoral is hosting a free summer joyful sing-a-long featuring Merry Music Makers! The perfect way to keep weekend mornings playful and musical. Come ready to sing, dance and make music together. .
