14th District Small District Security Infrastructure Grant

14th District Small Business Security Infrastructure Grant Program: Door Entry Control

In light of the impact of ICE/CBP operations on our local business community, the 14th District Small Business Security Infrastructure Grant is launching an emergency door buzzer program. Seeing the fear on the faces of business owners, workers and customers as the raids raged through our neighborhoods, it became clear that businesses needed more tools to keep themselves and their customers safe.

Utilizing funds allocated by the State of Illinois' Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for the 14th District Small Business Security Infrastructure Grant, State Representative Kelly Cassidy's office in partnership with Rogers Park Business Alliance (RPBA) have already provided more than $320,000 in support to 45 businesses in the 14th District, and are now making a limited number of door entry control systems (or buzzers) for vulnerable businesses available as a way to help ensure the safety and security of their workplaces.

Given the urgency of the situation, RPBA will work directly with contractors to install a basic buzzer door entry control system for up to 90 businesses in the 14th District. To be considered, businesses must be for-profit, brick and mortar business locations within the boundaries of the 14th House District, provide evidence of being in good standing with the State of Illinois, submit a valid city of Chicago business license and provide other general information by completing this form.

24th District Beat & Council Meetings

In the 49th Ward, the 24th District patrols nine Beats. Each patrol Beat in the Chicago Police Department hosts monthly or bi-monthly community Beat meetings. The primary purpose of the Beat community meetings is to allow Beat residents, other community stakeholders and police to discuss chronic problems on the Beat and to engage in problem-solving. Beat community meetings provide an opportunity for police and community residents to exchange information about conditions in the neighborhood.
