TLDR: Today, we're launching Spiral v3—an AI writing partner rebuilt with editorial taste. It's imbued with everything we know about great writing at Every, so your short-form content sounds like you, not a model. Spiral costs $25 per month as a standalone app, or it's free for paid Every subscribers along with access to all our tools and content.
Most AI writing tools are slop machines.
They spit out X posts, headlines, and email marketing copy before they understand who you are or what you’re trying to say. Worse: They make your writing smell like AI.
That’s why we rebuilt Spiral. It’s an AI writing partner informed by our editorial taste here at Every. It’ll help you write great short-for
m content in your style that sounds like you—not a model. We’ve loaded it with everything we know about writing—writing that feels alive and honest, and that spreads—and put it at your fingertips.
Spiral costs $25 per month as a standalone product.
If you’re an Every subscriber, you get access to Spiral for free as part of your subscrip
tion—along with access to all of our writing, our live AI-coding workshops like Claude Code Camp, Cora, Monologue, Sparkle, and our subscriber-only Discord.
How it works
Spiral is a multi-agent system that takes you from idea to post in a few simple steps.
- Collaborative interviews. When you ask Spiral to write a piece of content, it won’t start writing immediately. Instead, it will chat with you to figure out what you’re really trying to say and what’s most interesting to you.
- Many drafts at once. Once Spiral begins to draft, it will write three different versions that you can see and interact with simultaneously. You can explore the space of possibilities and mix and match between different drafts easily.
- Principled and taste-driven. We’ve spent hundreds of hours baking everything we know about writing into Spiral’s thought process. It has a library of principles that it draws from—like always using the active voice and putting the most interesting idea in the hook—that make Spiral feel like a great ghostwriter, not an AI.
- Collaborative and team-ready. Spiral has Workspaces that allow you to share product and company information and styles between members of your team—so all of your writing is on brand, all the time.
Why we built Spiral
We want to make more great writing in the world, and we believe that AI can be a force in support of it. We’ve taken a few bites at this apple—we originally incubated Lex and previous versions of Spiral. But over the last few months, a few things changed that let us know the time was right for a completely different approach.
First, AI learned what good writing was. Claude Opus 4 was the first AI model we’ve ever tested that had a real gut sense for writing. You can’t do great writing if you don’t have great taste—and Opus convinced us we could embody our taste in a model.
Second, AI learned to do tasks with more autonomy. When we first started using Claude Code a few months ago, we knew the paradigm shift that came for programming tools was going to come for the rest of the productivity suite. We rebuilt Spiral as an agent first because AI is now capable of performing like one.
Together, we think these two breakthroughs make for a great collaborative partner—one that all of Every now uses every day. To be sure, there’s still more work to do: Great writing is a moving target. But Spiral has already become an integral team member for us, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you.
How we built Spiral
One thing you’ll notice about Spiral is that it's surprisingly well-crafted and fully featured.
In years past, an app like this would’ve taken a team of engineers many months to put together. But Spiral was built in only a few months by a single engineer, Danny Aziz, with help from me, our creative team, and Droid, Claude Code, and a few others.
Danny will be on AI & I tomorrow to talk about the process of building Spiral from start to finish, and the zillions of iterations we went through together to put this product in front of you.
What happens to the old Spiral?
We’ll keep the old Spiral running for Every subscribers who’ve grown to rely on it.
It’s a very different product, and we think new Spiral should cover almost all of its use cases. But feel free to continue using it if you need to (though we highly recommend you switch).
