TLDR: Austin Tedesco joins Every as head of growth from Substack, where he led business development and helped the world’s top new media companies scale. He’s bringing that expertise to Every to grow the only subscription you need to stay at the edge of AI.

Why we brought Austin on board

A note from Dan Shipper, cofounder and CEO of Every

I’m excited to announce that Austin Tedesco is now Every’s head of growth. He’s joining us from Substack, where he previously led business development.

At Substack he helped the top new media companies in the world hit escape velocity, and he’s going to bring everything he’s learned to us. Another thing that makes him perfect for Every: He’s a great writer. Writing is the soul of what we do, and I’m psyched that the person leading our growth understands that from the inside.

We’re building Every into the only subscription you need to stay at the edge of AI—and with Austin on board, you’ll find a whole lot more people standing there with you.

Why Austin joined

A note from Austin Tesesco, head of growth at Every

My most common piece of advice for creative people is, “We need to get you more time doing the stuff that only you can do.”

I’ve spent the past decade helping writers, podcasters, and founders grow loyal audiences and build sustainable businesses around their innovative work. After some early success, the same pattern emerges. The video creator who can hook you for an hour will spend half of her week managing emails, calendar invitations, and repetitive logistics. The writer with an undeniable voice is up until midnight polishing custom graphics. A talented chef exerts more effort on juggling staff schedules and inventory than cooking at his Michelin-starred restaurant. These stars build small teams that win on agility and experimentation. But they drown in the tasks that keep a business alive.

That tension sharpened while I ran business development at Substack. I watched a media revolution accelerate in real time, with audiences flocking to independent voices in newsletters, podcasts, and live video shows. Managing that demand is a challenge. The creators that keep pushing boundaries—people like Lenny Rachitsky, Emily Sundberg, and Kareem Rahma—protect their time to think big and play around. It’s a core principle of excellent work.

AI is rapidly providing new answers to these challenges, raising both the floor and the ceiling on what’s possible as well as how quickly a small group can get there. Over the past six months, I’ve watched from afar as Every built, taught, and delivered those answers better than anything else on the internet. Even before I started chatting with the team here, I pitched the Every bundle to any exhausted founder or operator I knew. I heard a lot of: “I need that.”

Every has serious, ambitious goals to help people live well and do great work with AI. We achieve that through operating in a creative playground, knowing the best kind of work is only possible with room to think and breath. That combined philosophy and mission is why I’m joining to run growth, expanding the community here that will benefit from our tools while making the bundle even more valuable.

The business model driving that bundle is one I’ve always believed in. Subscriptions create a direct relationship with readers, users, and clients built on trust and quality. You subscribe to a bundle like Every actively. The writing has to rewire how you think. The software has to save you time and then empower you to use that time boldly. The courses need to be immediately and enduringly actionable. And a consulting sprint should level up your entire organization.

I’ve always learned best from people who teach systems and ideas, not just recipes. Samin Nosrat‘s investigations of salad dressing unveil how to think about balance and flavor more than simple measurements. Dan and Danny Aziz going deep on the philosophy behind Spiral—my AI writing partner for this announcement—shows how a tool with taste brings clarity to a confounding craft. The products here just work. But they get superpowers when the how and why behind that work is explained in open dialogue. That’s at the heart of the kind of teaching Every does, and we can’t wait to bring you along for the ride.
